PULSE

PULSE is a captivating light and sound installation that delves into the mesmerizing interplay between light and sound pulses. Created by light artist Jurjen Alkema and sound artist/composer Enric Monfort for BLACK PENCIL, this immersive experience takes you on a journey through a world of synchronized rhythms, where visual and auditory elements harmonize to create an ever-changing tapestry of patterns and colors throughout the space.

Pulse, often associated with the rhythmic beating of our hearts, is a fundamental force that permeates our existence. It represents the vitality of life itself, underscoring our very essence. Beyond the biological aspect, pulse manifests in the cadence of our daily routines, the pulsating energy of cities, and the dynamic flow of modern society. It serves as a constant reminder of our interconnectedness with the world, urging us to embrace the rhythm of life and seize every heartbeat as an opportunity for growth and connection. Pulse is not merely a physical phenomenon but a metaphor for the pulse of life that propels us forward.

Pulse is the rhythmic heartbeat of both sound and light. In sound, it manifests as waves of pressure vibrating through the air, creating melodies that resonate with our emotions. In the realm of light, pulse materializes as flickering photons, painting the canvas of our visual world with vibrant colors and dynamic patterns. These twin pulses, sound, and light, weave a symphony of sensations that dance through our senses, connecting us to the ever-changing rhythms of the universe.

Almere’s finest ensemble  BLACK PENCIL invited  Alkema and Monfort to joint their creative worlds for their first time in this new creation for the  Alluminous Festival,  presenting "PULSE":  a sensory adventure that celebrates the interconnectedness of light and sound, offering an immersive and contemplative experience that leaves you with a new perspective on rhythm and space.
